There are so many ways to support our organization. Please see the Donors, Volunteers, Members, and Advocates sections below to see where you fit in. Still have questions, contact us through the button below.
A donor is someone that gives, donates or presents something to a charity.
Voices of Our Youth accepts financial and in-kind donations of new or almost new items, and all donations are tax-deductible in accordance with Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Voices of Our Youth works with youth, individuals, and families in the Antelope Valley and surrounding areas. We are focused on reducing the prison pipeline by offering support, connections to resources, and services for those in need.
We accept donations in several forms:
Giving to a nonprofit organization is a connection. We work hard to attract donors who believe in what we do. We strive for transparency and are proud of the stories and the impact we have in our community. The individuals we help keep us moving forward and help us to create inspiration for our future events.
By contributing to the right organization you are helping to make the world a better place. When you give your time, money, resources, and expertise you are helping to change a life for the better. When giving back to your community, you are showing kindness to others and setting the example. Every person who donates is making one small step towards changing the world.
Being able to help other members of your community and seeing the impact on those people makes your heart grow and you feel unstoppable. The act of giving and helping others by volunteering your time improves your personal well-being. Giving to charity can give you a sense of purpose, improve your self-worth and inner satisfaction.
You should always research an organization you are considering donating to, to determine if their mission aligns with your beliefs. This also gives you the opportunity to educate yourself on the social injustices they advocate for and expose yourself to new perspectives on topics you previously knew nothing about. Ultimately, this will fuel your desire to make a difference, giving you a sense of purpose in life, while contributing to creating solutions for a better world.
Finding a cause that is close to your heart, gives you the opportunity to fuel your passion for helping while doing something you love. Not only do you feel needed but you make others feel human.
Donating your time to charity gives you the opportunity to expand your social circle and build relationships with like-minded individuals. By donating something physical you are improving your health creating a healthier lifestyle. Mental and spiritual advantages are also triggered by giving of oneself.
Did you know that your donation is tax deductible? Its not just the money you give, but also any expenses relating to the organization including travel, parking, convention or event fees that are associated with the charity, as long as you are not being reimbursed by the non-profit for those expenses!
A volunteer is someone who does work without being paid for it because they want to do it.
It doesn't matter if you have five minutes or a few hours or more to give, all that matters is that you make the commitment to donating your time. We all have unique talents and gifts that we can contribute. The key is finding a way to contribute that reflects your interests and personality!
Our volunteers are the backbone of our organization. By donating your time you are providing hope and help to youth, individuals, and families in need in a variety of ways.
Our volunteer opportunities range from organizing and sorting donations to director positions. There is something for everyone. We offer short-term or group opportunities and everything in between.
Some of the volunteer opportunities we offer are events, warehouse, office, inventory, photography, food services, MANpower, and youth volunteers.
An advocate is anyone who adds that voice by representing another person in court, or by supporting or working toward a particular course of action and arguing in support of another's cause.
The world is often seen through rose-colored glasses, and the answers are simple. However, unless you have lived experiences with hardships or disparities, you really don't know what your neighbor may be going through.
If you are committed to making a difference then you are on you're way to being an advocate! The power of Voices of Our Youth is in the stories of the people we meet during our outreach events which ignite the passion in our volunteers to demand change. We use our social media platforms to fuel this fire and grab the attention of others on the same mission and the decision-makers.
Our volunteers can help us strengthen Voices of Our Youth's mission through social media, in our local communities, and by interacting with legislators and decision-makers to make a policy change.
We work to put a face to the social problems of our community. No matter what your connection is, your story allows us to share your experiences and educate others in our community about the realities of poverty that our neighbors face every day.
By putting a face on the social problems within our community we are humanizing them. By sharing the stories of the youth, individuals, and families we serve, it is our hope to bring to light the realities of poverty and give hope to our neighbors who may be facing the same disparities every day.
A member is a person who has officially joined the organization.
