The date is approaching fast and we’re making preparations for all you Wizards, Witches, Mudbloods and Muggles . You won’t want to miss this wizarding extravaganza!
The big day may have come and gone, but keep in touch as we’re always up to something new and exciting.
There are several objectives of this event.
Objective One: Bringing together communities to help one another and empower them to make change in their neighborhoods.
Objective Two: Bringing families together for a free fun filled day in an atmosphere where they can strengthen their family bonds without hardship.
Objective Three: To offer a wide variety of resources to the community to empower them to get the help they may need without shame.
Objective Four: To relieve some of the stress families face during the holidays by providing each child with a toy for Christmas and groceries for Christmas dinner.
Objective Five: To reduce the prison pipeline. By offering the items in the above objectives we are reducing crime due to desperation to provide for their families.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter addresses several social issues that youth and adults alike can relate to. Our youth are going through the constantly changing stages of life at a rapid pace, and they are having difficulty navigating their newfound worlds. Adults can relate as they are taken back in time to relive their own feelings of uncertainty.
Our young wizards and witches who attend Hogwarts go through many normal experiences like stressing over exams, teenage crushes, and participation in extracurricular activities such as Quidditch and social clicks (Houses). Their identities are tied to how they are perceived by their peers. Their school, teachers, and friends have a great influence over the way our wizards and witches handle their environments. The choices they make as friends shape the outcome of their path to adulthood.
Our theme touches on several social issues throughout the movies that our youth and adults face within our community, like difference and belonging, humility and self-sacrifice, rules and rebellion, friendship and loyalty, storytelling and perspective, acceptance and tolerance, social awkwardness and coming of age, empathy and compassion, loss and grief, activism and diversity, prejudice and discrimination, knowledge and power, choices and morality, greed and desire, courage and bravery, mental health and depression, abuse and confronting fears, bullying and peer pressure, politics and corruption, fate and identity, trauma and silence, truth and rumors, critical thinking and speech, resistance and redemption, love and death, paranoia and community.
Real friendships forge an unbreakable bond. With true friends it doesn’t matter if you argue because at the end of the day, they’ll always have your back.
True friendship can get you through anything.
Whether you stand up to your friends, or fight for what you believe in, remember bravery comes in many forms.
Don't judge a book by its cover or underestimate others, people can surprise you.
Although there are some battles you need to fight alone, there are others that you can’t. It's okay to ask for help.
At the end of the day, money isn't really everything, it doesn't buy happiness, just bigger problems.
Sometimes we must face our fears to get what we want. In some instances, the only way is the hardest way, and it’s moments like these that we find out what we’re really made of.
Sometimes the only way is the hardest way, and it’s times like these that we find out what we’re really made of.
Sometimes things don't work out the way we'd like them to, but life goes on.
