The purpose of this event is to bring the community together and strip away the titles and statuses. For this day we are all just people who are thankful for the lives we live and the lives we touch. For this event, we are all equals and we all have struggles.
Our event theme is Thankful Hearts.
A thankful heart is a heart full of gratitude for the things in our lives. It’s the difference between a positive and a negative attitude.
A thankful heart has an attitude of gratitude as opposed to a spirit of entitlement. It sees the good and positive in life and focuses on that. It pushes out negative thoughts inside your head. It is being thankful for the good times, the happy times, and the sad times, because we can learn from it all.
Having a thankful heart increases our overall health and is associated with greater happiness. It helps people to feel more positive emotions and relish in the good experiences. A thankful heart can also help us when dealing with adversity and building strong relationships.
Despite the challenges and setbacks, you may have experienced along the way, a thankful heart will help you focus on the silver linings and blessings.
This event was developed to bring families, communities, and celebrities together. We want to strip away titles and just have people who care for other people building a stronger community.
Our unhoused community often feels disconnected and isolated from the communities they are a part of. We want to create a place for those who don’t have a home or family can come and feel like they belong. We want everyone to feel like they are a part of something even if its just for one day.
We want to create an atmosphere where families can come together and learn about the resources around them. When you’re in crisis you don’t always know how to ask for or even where to go for help, so we want to educate families on resources available to them before a crisis in a non-threatening way without feelings of blame or shame.
The date is approaching fast and we’re busy planning. You won’t want to miss out on this event! Check back for more details!
For most people, the holiday season is a fun time of the year filled with parties, celebrations, and social gatherings with family and friends. However, for many people, it is a time filled with sadness, self-reflection, loneliness, and anxiety. So, we are responding with kindness. We want to alleviate the pressures that they may feel to provide for their families by offering a safe, fun, happy environment for them to come together.
We want to gain the attention of our youth. This means being transparent and authentic. We want to empower our youth to change their circumstances while advocating for what they need.
We encourage peace within our communities. We want to reduce the stigma and normalize asking for and accepting help in times of need. We want to help reduce the prison pipeline and detour desperation and violent acts.
Unity is a journey that begins with diversity, passes through inclusion, and pauses at belonging before ending with true unity. We believe in fostering a culture of respect, fairness and belonging. Unity represents togetherness, which means standing together as one.
We want to bring awareness to the issues within our communities. By giving back, you are helping us bring attention to those issues and make a difference in someone's life.
If you are in a position to influence others to open their hearts to help someone in need, why wouldn't you?
When you show kindness and compassion to someone else, it makes them feel better. Especially if they are experiencing homelessness. A friendly gesture or a smile can brighten their day while giving them back a sense of dignity and belonging. Our homeless community often feels invisible and has to fight isolation, depression, and embarrassment every day.
Others who are struggling to meet their needs can also feel the embarrassment of asking for and accepting help. Unfortunately, our current economy has effected all social and economic classes as well as races.
