You; Matter Campaign

Our 2021 Focus.

These are trying times in the world right now. There is so much uncertainty and people have been laid off due to Covid-19 which resulted in struggles to provide basic necessities for their families. When you don’t know where your next meal will come from or how you are going to pay your utilities, you will do almost anything to provide. Along with this comes depression and desperation. This time of year causes a spike in suicide already due to the holidays, but with covid-19 restrictions it is likely to increase even more. Families who can’t be together cause strains in the nurturing relationships that they may not otherwise have.

You; Matter is a campaign that signifies that every person on this earth has a purpose, and though we may struggle at times Voices of Our Youth wants to be the beacon of hope that reminds every human that “You; Matter”. The semi-colon is used when the author could have chosen to end their sentence but chose not to. The author is you and the sentence is your life. This tagline is a representation of the struggles with ---and victories over, ongoing as they may be---substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, gender identity, sexuality, self-harm, serious mental illness, child abuse, bullying, elderly isolation, sexual assault, homelessness, human trafficking, gang violence, etc.

Our tagline “You; Matter” is dedicated to the prevention of suicide through educating the public, to create awareness and provide communities and individuals with tools to promote a healthy life. Our goal is help and empower more people to be able to say, “I’m still here and I matter!”
