Every day, families across our region face sudden eviction, domestic violence, natural disasters, or medical emergencies that threaten to tear them apart. Without immediate housing, children enter foster care. Parents lose jobs. Trauma compounds.
Streets to Suites doesn't wait weeks for bureaucracy. We provide emergency housing vouchers within hours—giving families the time and stability they need to rebuild.

1 in 4 families is one paycheck away from homelessness
Over 60,000 people experience homelessness in Los Angeles County on any given night
Thousands of children enter foster care annually due to housing instability—not abuse or neglect
Traditional shelters often separate families, require long waitlists, or have restrictive eligibility
When housing falls apart, everything falls apart. But it doesn't have to.
Streets to Suites partners with local motels and hotels to provide emergency housing vouchers to families in crisis. This isn't a shelter bed—it's a private room with dignity, safety, and stability.
✅ Immediate emergency housing (same-day or within 24 hours)
✅ Private hotel/motel rooms for families to stay together
✅ 1-3 day stays (average)—enough time to stabilize
✅ Case management to connect families to long-term resources
✅ Essential supplies (toiletries, clothing, food, phone cards)
✅ Transportation assistance when needed
✅ Linkage to permanent housing, legal aid, employment, childcare, and social services
Prevent homelessness. Keep families together. Provide breathing room to solve problems—not just survive them.

✅ Families with children facing sudden eviction or homelessness
✅ Survivors of domestic violence needing immediate safe shelter
✅ Families displaced by natural disasters (fires, floods, etc.)
✅ Individuals facing serious medical crises requiring temporary housing during treatment
✅ Anyone at imminent risk of family separation due to housing instability
We don't turn away families because of paperwork, documentation status, or "eligibility" barriers. If you're in crisis, we respond.
A family (or a community member on their behalf) contacts VOY—via phone, email, or through a partner organization.
Our team assesses the situation: What's the emergency? How many people? What are immediate needs?
Within hours (often same-day), we secure a hotel/motel room through our partner network and issue an emergency voucher.
We deliver essential supplies: toiletries, clothing, food, and any urgent items the family needs.
We connect the family to long-term resources:
Semi-permanent or transitional housing programs
Legal aid (eviction defense, restraining orders, etc.)
Employment services
Childcare assistance
Social services (CalWORKs, SNAP, medical, etc.)
Mental health & trauma support
Families move into semi-permanent or transitional housing with the support they need to thrive—not just survive.
500+ families housed through emergency vouchers
Zero children unnecessarily separated from parents due to homelessness
Average stay: 7-14 days—enough time to secure long-term solutions-
80%+ of families transition to permanent or transitional housing (not back to the streets)
✅ Keeps children out of foster care
✅ Prevents job loss (stable housing = ability to work)
✅ Reduces trauma and stress for the entire family
✅ Provides time to access legal aid, apply for housing, secure employment
✅ Breaks the cycle of chronic homelessness

WE COLLABORATE WITH LOCAL HOSPITALITY PARTNERS like Motel 6 and other establishments to provide dignified, safe housing at reduced or donated rates.
Benefits for hotel/motel partners:
✅ Tax-deductible in-kind donations
✅ Positive community impact & brand reputation
✅ Steady, reliable partnership with a trusted nonprofit
✅ Recognition in VOY media, events, and reports

No waitlists. No bureaucracy. We respond the same day.
We keep families together—not separated into different shelters or systems.
A private hotel room offers safety, privacy, and a place to regroup—not a crowded shelter bed.
We don't just provide a room. We connect families to legal aid, employment, permanent housing, and services.
80%+ of families transition to stable housing—not back to the streets.
Often same-day, but within 24 hours in most cases.
Typically 7-14 days, but we extend when necessary to ensure successful transition.
No. The emergency voucher is fully funded by donations.
Our priority is families with children and those facing serious medical crises, but we assess each situation individually.
Referrals primarily come from law enforcement and government agencies.

This initiative stemmed from a discussion with law enforcement aiming to support the sheriff's department in their interactions with individuals and families.
Through a collaboration with Motel 6, Voices of Our Youth, and law enforcement, we have established a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for emergency vouchers to support our Streets to Suites program. This partnership serves as the foundation of our initiative.
Little People Childcare will provide childcare for program participants. This support enables them to attend meetings, gather necessary paperwork, and smoothly transition to the next phase of their journey towards self-sufficiency and permanent housing.
The Community Resource Center in Palmdale, operated by LA Care, provides a range of vital services to participants. These services include help with enrolling in Cal Fresh, advocating for SSI benefits, supporting Medi-Cal enrollment, assisting with health plan enrollment and care coordination, offering glucose and blood pressure screenings, providing fitness and exercise classes, conducting nutrition and healthy cooking classes, offering child supervision services, and more.
Tarzana Treatment Center offers a range of services to assist program participants, including therapy, detox programs, recreational activities, HIV support, case management, recovery housing, and other support resources.

We respond quickly. We respond with dignity. We respond with solutions.
One voucher = One family housed. One childhood saved.
