At Voices of Our Youth, we recognize that military service doesn't end when the uniform comes off. Veterans carry invaluable skills, experiences, and leadership that our communities desperately need—yet too many face isolation, food insecurity, PTSD, and the painful transition from military purpose to civilian uncertainty.
Veteran Voices honors service beyond the battlefield—empowering veterans to continue leading, mentoring, and shaping the future.
22 veterans die by suicide every day in America
1.4 million veterans face food insecurity
40,000+ veterans experience homelessness on any given night
Isolation and lack of purpose compound mental health struggles
These aren't statistics. These are our neighbors, our mentors, our heroes.

WE DON'T JUST THANK VETERANS. WE INVEST IN THEM.
Our approach recognizes veterans as assets—not charity cases. We provide dignified support, meaningful connection, and opportunities to continue serving their communities.
No veteran should face hunger. We provide weekly groceries tailored to individual needs and dietary preferences—ensuring consistent access to nutritious food.
As donations are received, we distribute:
Hygiene products (toiletries, personal care items)
Small appliances (microwaves, coffee makers, etc.)
Household items (linens, kitchenware, cleaning supplies)
Seasonal needs (winter coats, fans, etc.)
When crisis strikes—medical emergencies, housing instability, transportation breakdowns—we respond with immediate assistance.
We host monthly social events designed to build camaraderie, reduce loneliness, and create joy. Upcoming activities include:
✅ Pet Therapy Sessions — The healing power of animals
✅ Hiking & Outdoor Adventures — Physical wellness & nature connection
✅ Bingo Nights — Laughter, prizes, and friendly competition
✅ Movie Nights — Classic films, popcorn, and conversation
✅ Dance Mixers — Music, movement, and fun
✅ Museum Field Trips— Culture, history, and learning
✅ BBQ Picnics — Food, family, and community
✅ Ice Cream Socials— Simple joys, shared together
✅ Good Deed Day — Veterans serving the community together
✅ Octane Events — High-energy activities (racing, go-karts, etc.)
✅ Car & Motorcycle Shows — Celebrating veteran car/bike culture
Social connection reduces suicide risk, improves mental health, and reminds veterans they're not alone.
While veterans are trained to defend on foreign soil, their skills are invaluable on American soil. We create opportunities for veterans to:
✅ Mentor at-risk youth through Peace Through Power and other programs
✅ Lead workshopson discipline, teamwork, and resilience
✅ Share their storiesat schools, events, and community forums
✅ Serve in advisory roles on VOY councils and program design
✅ Transition into civilian careers through networking and support
Purpose combats despair. When veterans lead and mentor, they reclaim their sense of mission—and young people gain role models who've faced real adversity.
We facilitate peer-led support groups where veterans can share experiences, process trauma, and support one another without judgment.
TOPICS ADDRESSED:
PTSD & trauma recovery
Transition to civilian life
